The product uses a Kalman Filter data assimilation model, described in the Technical Documentation. This technique is driven by data from ground-based Global Positioning System (GPS) dual frequency receivers. The primary data stream comes from the Maritime and Nationwide Differential GPS (M/NDGPS) real time network of stations operated by the US Coast Guard (USCG). As of January 2006, there were about 130 stations ingested into the model. This number has been gradually increasing and will be augmented by Federal Aviation Administration/Wide Area Augmentation System (FAA/WAAS) data, and new stations in areas with poor coverage. This product has evolved through a collaboration between the Space Weather Prediction Center (SWPC), the National Geodetic Survey (NGS), the National Geophysical Data Center (NGDC), and the Global Systems Division (GSD)."; String keywords "Earth Science > Sun-Earth Interactions > Ionosphere/Magnetosphere Particles, Earth Science > Sun-Earth Interactions > Solar Energetic Particle Properties > Total Electron Content, geoscientificInformation"; String keywords_vocabulary "NASA/GCMD Earth Science Keywords, ISO 19115 Topic Categories"; String comment "http://www.swpc.noaa.gov/ustec/docs/USTEC_Doc.html"; String creator_name "Rob Redmon"; String creator_email "ionosphere@noaa.gov"; String institution "DOC/NOAA/NESDIS/NGDC > National Geophysical Data Center, NESDIS, NOAA, U.S. Department of Commerce"; String project "The TEC and slant path maps can be used to estimate the GPS signal delay due to the ionospheric electron content between a receiver and a GPS satellite"; String license "ACCESS CONSTRAINTS: none, USE CONSTRAINTS: none, DISTRIBUTION LIABILITY: None"; String publisher_name "DOC/NOAA/NESDIS/NGDC > National Geophysical Data Center, NESDIS, NOAA, U.S. Department of Commerce, Rob Redmon"; String publisher_url "http://www.swpc.noaa.gov/ustec/text/, http://www.ngdc.noaa.gov/stp/IONO/USTEC/, http://www.ngdc.noaa.gov/stp/IONO/USTEC/products/, http://www.swpc.noaa.gov/ustec/all_tec_plots.html"; String publisher_email "ionosphere@noaa.gov"; String metadata_contact "Rob Redmon, DOC/NOAA/NESDIS/NGDC > National Geophysical Data Center, NESDIS, NOAA, U.S. Department of Commerce"; String update_frequency "Daily"; String progress "In work"; String instrument "GPS"; String date_created "20060401"; String date_issued "20060401"; String geospatial_lat_min "10"; String geospatial_lat_max "60"; String geospatial_lon_min "-50"; String geospatial_lon_max "-150"; String time_coverage_start "20041014"; String time_coverage_end "Present"; String verticalTEC_Count "5151.0"; String verticalTEC_Minimum "8.0"; String verticalTEC_Maximum "52.70000076293945"; String verticalTEC_Mean "17.332149099595643"; String verticalTEC_Standard_Deviation "7.674331639193234"; String verticalTEC_Sum "89277.9000120163"; String verticalTEC_Sum_of_Squares "1850689.009765017"; } DODS_EXTRA { String Unlimited_Dimension "Time"; } }
